Apache POI Word Style

To set text's style, font, alignment etc, Apache POI provides methods such as setItalic(), setBold() etc. These methods are useful and can be used in Java program to handle word document.

Lets see an example in which we are creating a paragraph and setting it as bold and italic.

import java.io.FileOutputStream;
import java.io.OutputStream;
import org.apache.poi.xwpf.usermodel.XWPFDocument;
import org.apache.poi.xwpf.usermodel.XW.PFParagraph;

	public static void main(String[] args) {
		XWPFDocument doc = new XWPFDocument();
	    try(OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream("Javatpoint.docx")) {
	    	XWPFParagraph paragraph = doc.createParagraph();

	      XWPFRun xr = paragraph.createRun();
	      xr.setBold(true);
	      xr.setItalic(true);
	      xr.setText("This text is Bold and have Italic style");
	      xr.addBreak();
	      doc.write(os);
	    }catch(Exception e) {

	    }

}
