When a preposition is used incorrectly, it can completely alter the connotation or meaning of the sentences. For example, 'Please don't scream at us: calm down and talk properly' implies anger, whereas 'He shouted at us from the upstairs window' implies that someone is trying to be heard. Changing the prepositions alters the meaning of the phrase. That is how important the job of the preposition is.
